Control Techniques Proposes to Expand its Global HQ in Newtown

AUG 01, 2013

Control Techniques is planning to expand its global headquarters and research and product development centre on Pool Road, Newtown, with the potential to create forty new highly skilled engineering and design jobs.

The project is being supported by the Welsh Government which is investing £1.5 m in the construction of the new 900 m.

The new facility is planned as a result of Control Techniques' continued global expansion.  The company is currently upgrading its entire product line and the new space at the Pool Road site will be occupied by engineering teams dedicated to product design.

The development is expected to create up to 40 permanent new jobs at Control Techniques as well as a number of temporary construction jobs while work is ongoing. The roles at Control Techniques would primarily be for highly skilled engineering and design staff, recruited to develop new product lines.  If progressed, the initiative will provide a welcome boost to the Mid-Wales economy and would further secure Newtown as the centre of Control Techniques’ global business

The building style is proposed to be sympathetic to its natural surroundings as well as being sustainable and highly energy efficient. It has also been designed to achieve a BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) ‘very good’ rating.  To accommodate additional staff, extra car parking spaces are also proposed.

Construction would begin this autumn, subject to planning, with a completion date in summer 2014.
