  • Compliance & Approvals Engineer
    Role Summary

    Location: Newtown, Powys, UK

    The Compliance & Approvals Engineer's main aim is to focus on product development and engineering, they will work with product design teams to ensure that new products meet legal, technical, and commercial compliance requirements and will support the product sustaining team, to ensure conformity is maintained throughout the product’s lifecycle and production.

    The role holder should have a strong quality management mindset and support the maintenance of laboratory processes and procedures which are essential to acquiring necessary product approvals and certifications.

    Required Qualifications and Experience: 

    Essential

    • Degree or equivalent in electrical /electronic engineering. Lower qualifications like HND will be considered for more experienced candidates with proven long-term experience in this area.
    • Relevant experience in a similar role or in the design of electronic products.
    • Understanding of the principles of electrical safety and EMC for electrical/electronic products
    • Proficient communicator and well-organised

     

    Desirable

    • Long-term experience in the design, test, and manufacture of electrical or electronic products with an emphasis on power electronics
    • Detailed technical knowledge of product conformance

  • Power Electronics Engineer
    Role Summary

    Location: Newtown, Powys, UK

    We are looking to hire an enthusiastic Power Electronics Engineer for our R&D department.

    The key responsibilities of this role are to design, develop and implement power electronics and auxiliary circuits.

    This includes all technical disciplines required to deliver these circuits including component evaluation, circuit analysis and simulations, thermal and mechanical design, PCB review with consideration for manufacturing requirements. The role requires working as part of a larger team on significant projects or taking on smaller design challenges independently as and when required

    Required Qualifications and Experience: 

    Qualifications

    • Master’s Degree (MEng) in Power Electronics. (Preferred)
    • Have an awareness and desire to explore emerging technology in the field, innovating ways to incorporate that into designs and products.
    • Chartered Engineer.

     

    Experience

    • Understanding of power electronic devices, topologies, and control systems.
    • Have experience using simulation tools (e.g., PLECS, Saber, Simetrix, Pspice or Mathlab Simulink simulators)

    • You will be required to build awareness of market trends, competitor products/activity, and influence in the area to achieve ambitious sales growth.
    • You will ensure all appointments and proposals illustrate us in a highly professional yet competitive light, with the end goal of securing the prospective business, at an acceptably profitable price. 
    • You will be required to build, utilize, and communicate with key internal and external stakeholders within the business to continuously improve your understanding and knowledge of the solution offering, as well as working with existing customers to maximize business opportunities.
    • This role requires you to plan and prepare monthly presentations for sales meetings, and to report business and forecast data.
    • You will ensure that all sales activity is conducted in accordance with Control Techniques’ and Nidec’s business ethics and trade compliance rules.

     

    Required Qualifications and Experience: 

    Qualifications

    • Professional qualification in Electrical /Mechatronic/ Mechanical Engineering. Degree/HND preferred.

    • Strong commercial background in selling industrial products
    • Appreciation of the technical capabilities of products and the ability to sell their advantages
    • New business development experience
