TEEM-Lab, the Nidec/Leroy-Somer innovation hub, is open to local and regional stakeholders
02 февраля 2026

Nidec/Leroy-Somer, a subsidiary of the Nidec Group, has been engaged for several years in a vast strategic plan to modernize and transform its infrastructure in Charente.

Numerous projects have been carried out with the aim of increasing productivity, accelerating innovation in a more suitable environment, establishing leadership in new markets, and providing even better service to customers.

As part of this project, the innovation and development teams have been brought together in a centralized innovation hub at the Angoulême Sillac site to increase efficiency by enabling them to share common resources in an optimized way. The design and testing platforms for our various business lines have been consolidated, the central laboratory (TEEM-Lab) and the electronics laboratory have been refurbished and equipped with additional resources, collaborative workspaces have been created, including a modeling workshop, and our training center has also moved to the site.

TEEM-Lab Angoulême

The unique feature of TEEM-Lab (Thermal, Environmental, Electrical & Mechanical Laboratory) is that it is open to the regional ecosystem to stimulate innovation, training, and project support. External partners, including companies, institutions, universities, associations, and training providers, can thus benefit from a place to exchange ideas and share expertise, as well as access technological support and testing platforms.

The TEEM-Lab's areas of focus correspond to the company's core business: rotating machinery, electromagnetics, thermal and aerodynamics, electronics, mechanics, and insulation systems. The equipment available enables climate and environmental testing, the characterization of electrical and mechanical materials, fault detection, digital simulations, and additive manufacturing.

These cutting-edge skills cover the fields of high-efficiency motors and variable-speed, connected alternators, as well as hybrid energy production systems. Nidec/Leroy-Somer, whose main areas of growth are robotics, data centers, electric mobility, energy transition, and the green economy, is keen to seize new opportunities.

The Nouvelle-Aquitaine Regional Council has supported this investment plan and enabled us to strengthen our capacity to support local industrial players (clusters, technology platforms, and education) in their development and innovation projects.

TEEM-Lab Angoulême

At TEEM-Lab, we provide equipment for characterizing materials, components, and subassemblies: mechanical, electrical, and climatic/environmental testing, additive manufacturing to characterize, certify, and predict aging under multi-stress conditions. Our specialized teams are mobilized to meet the specific needs of local companies, whether it be the qualification of new materials, the optimization of components, or the validation of innovative processes.

The TEEM-Lab marks an important milestone for Nidec/Leroy-Somer and strengthens its integration into the regional ecosystem, creating synergies that promote energy transition and Industry 4.0. It is designed to foster synergies between companies, institutions, universities, and associations, and actively contributes to the development of skills and competitiveness in local industry. The universities of Poitiers and La Rochelle, the Energies Stockage cluster, Smart4D, and LUXOR have all benefited from its facilities.

Nidec / Leroy-Somer, a subsidiary of the Nidec Group, would like to thank the Nouvelle Aquitaine Region for its support in bringing this project to fruition.
