Nidec, in the community involvement performed by our employees, demonstrates this passion for improving the world around us. Nidec employees actively support community service activities and provide contributions to various schools and organizations. A sampling of community programs we support include:

Japan-America Society of St. Louis

The Japan-America Society of St. Louis (JAS) has been promoting friendship, understanding, and cultural exchange between St. Louis and the people of Japan for over 50 years. Considering Nidec Corporation’s rich ties to Japan, it’s clear to see why this organization is such a natural fit for Nidec employees to support. The society’s preeminent community engagement program is the annual Japanese festival, which takes place at the Missouri Botanical Garden each Labor Day weekend. This event boasts the status as the oldest and largest Japanese festival in North America. Nidec proudly supports both this festival and the JAS as it spreads cultural awareness and friendship between the people of Japan and St. Louis.

Missouri Botanical Garden

Nidec Motor Corporation is a proud sponsor of the Missouri Botanical Garden, which is the oldest continuously-operating botanical garden in the country. Founded in 1859, this National Historic Landmark delights visitors with its 79 acres of lush beauty both indoors and outside. The Missouri Botanical Garden does an excellent job of promoting conservation, education, horticulture and science. No wonder our employees take so much pride in supporting this venerable St. Louis landmark.

Lymphoma and Leukemia Society

The Lymphoma and Leukemia Society (LLS) is dedicated to searching for cures to leukemia and lymphoma along with Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. The LLS also promotes treatment and quality of life improvement for patients and their families. Many Nidec employees – like others across the world – have been touched by cancer either themselves or through loved ones. That’s one reason we’re so eager to support the worthwhile missions of the LLS through donations of money and time.

Rebuilding Together in St. Louis

Nidec Motor Corporation employees roll up their sleeves to help revitalize St. Louis neighborhoods by rehabilitating homes of low-income homeowners, particularly the elderly and the disabled, so they may continue to live independently in comfort and safety. Our employees volunteer time and talents to renew neighborhoods by rebuilding community centers, playgrounds and other community projects.

United Way

By participating in the United Way, our employees provide funding to many agencies across the United States that strengthen families, invest in children, build safer neighborhoods and support the elderly. United Way does what no other organization can, bringing people together as one community to strengthen local health and human service agencies providing assistance to those in need. Thanks to many generous volunteers, United Way operates in an efficient way – keeping costs low so that more people can be helped. In fact, more that 90 cents of every dollar contributed goes to services that help people in need.
