AREP+

Auxiliary windings technology for the excitation of industrial alternators

AREP+

AREP+ logoA new technology of auxiliary windings for the excitation of industrial alternators with unequaled performances.

AREP+ technology is based on the latest innovations in excitation systems to offer first-class transient performance and excitation characteristics:

  • Starting kVA up to +35% compared to a traditional AREP excitation system
  • A faster excitation chain with a response time lowered by up to 30%
  • A faster start of the regulation, from 600 rpm / 20 Hz
  • Lower voltage drop at machine terminals

The new AREP+ system uses the output voltage of the main stator as H1 voltage and a single H3 auxiliary winding inserted in selected slots of the main stator. The combination of these two input currents is then used to power the controller, thus combining the power of a traditional Shunt system with the reliability and control level of an AREP system. Under the same conditions, more power is taken to supply the regulator, which improves the excitation capabilities.

This excitation system is made possible by the improvements brought by Leroy-Somer to its range of regulators, such as the R180 or the D350, allowing them to process a much higher H1 voltage than the AREP system without risk for the excitation chain.
