As part of its decarbonization strategy, Nidec Power, under the legal entity Nidec Leroy-Somer, has signed a renewable electricity purchase agreement (PPA) with Alpiq, a leading energy provider committed to the energy transition.
This agreement covers two industrial sites in France: Angoulême and Orléans.
Alpiq sources electricity from wind energy producers and supplies it to Nidec Leroy-Somer under the PPA framework. This enables the company to secure part of its energy supply from renewable sources, while actively contributing to the reduction of its carbon footprint.
To monitor the environmental impact of this initiative, sensors have been installed on each site, directly on the electricity distribution panels. A dedicated platform allows teams to track carbon savings in real time, reinforcing transparency and accountability.

Interestingly, around 80% of the renewable electricity purchased comes from Vestas wind turbines installed in Bareville—turbines rated at 2000 kVA, manufactured by one of the six Nidec Leroy-Somer entities involved in the agreement. This creates a virtuous circle where our industrial expertise directly supports the energy transition.
This project reflects Nidec Power’s commitment to integrating sustainability into its operations and delivering responsible solutions to its customers and partners.
