About Us
Decades of Motor Excellence Ascending into the Skies

Our Mission

We are dedicated to being at the forefront of the global commitment to a greener future in Civil Aviation, aiming to be an instrumental force in realizing the vision set at the 41st International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) assembly. On October 7th, 2022, member delegates of the ICAO pledged to a transformative goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, and we stand in firm support of this initiative. Our mission is to provide cutting-edge Electric Propulsion Units for a broad spectrum of aerospace applications, contributing significantly to the industry's shift towards sustainable energy solutions and eco-friendly skies.

Our Joint Venture

Electrified aircraft technology is poised to revolutionize the way people travel in urban areas and is gaining interest worldwide as a carbon-neutral form of transportation. Beyond the potential for carbon neutrality, electric aircraft technology offers several benefits including:

  • Quieter Skies - Electric motors generally operate much quieter than traditional combustion-based engines - paving the way for more frequent flights in urban areas without the typical noise pollution.

  • Enhanced Energy Efficiency - In comparison to internal combustion engines, electric motors are typically more efficient. This improved efficiency contributes to a significant decrease in energy needs and thus, the cost of air travel.

  • Reduced Operating and Maintenance Costs - With fewer moving parts, electric engines can reduce maintenance costs. As an added bonus, electricity is usually cheaper than aviation fuel and can be renewably sourced - bringing down operation costs.

For these reasons, Nidec has partnered with Brazil-based aviation industry leader, Embraer, to establish Nidec Aerospace. Nidec Aerospace designs and manufactures electric propulsion systems (EPU) for eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft), eSTOL (electric short take-off and landing vehicle), eCTOL (conventional take-off and landing aircraft), Agriculture Drones, Cargo Drones and Specialty Drones - with plans to expand into other parts of the Urban Air Mobility (UAM) market, pioneering efficient and sustainable travel methods for the future.
