The largest passenger cruise ship in the world is powered by Leroy-Somer alternators

On May 12, 2016, Harmony of the Seas was officially delivered to Royal Caribbean by STX at Saint-Nazaire in France. The ship is equipped with 6 Leroy-Somer LSA 62 alternators coupled with Wärtsilä engines delivering 100MW. This power will be used for the ship's all-electric propulsion and maneuvering system, and to bring the ship's many amenities to life.

Last but not the least, the ship emergency power system is powered by two Leroy-Somer LSA 51.2.

With a gross tonnage of 227,700 GT, Harmony of the Seas is the largest passenger ship in the world. She is the third ship in her class, after sister ships MS Oasis of the Seas and MS Allure of the Seas. After a build time of 32 months, the ship first set sail on May 15, 2016 from the STX docks in Saint-Nazaire.

Ship amenities include 23 swimming pools, 20 dining venues, a 1400-seat theatre and a casino amongst others. Harmony of the Seas has 2,747 staterooms, with a wide variety of types, to accommodate 5,479 guests.

Leroy-Somer will also equip the fourth Oasis class vessel which is already in the works at STX's shipyards and scheduled for launch in 2018.
