Reliable Power for Locomotive & Off-Highway Applications

Nidec Power traction alternators are engineered for durability and efficiency, making them the ideal choice for both locomotives and off-highway mining trucks. Designed to handle rugged conditions, our alternators deliver reliable performance in demanding environments, ensuring maximum uptime and efficiency.

Locomotive Applications

Designed for switchyard and short road-haul locomotives, Nidec Power traction alternators are available in two configurations:

  • Dual Alternator Setup: A primary alternator is driven from the main engine output shaft, while a dual auxiliary alternator is powered via the engine’s PTO.
  • Combined Alternator Design: A single unit houses both the primary traction alternator and a companion alternator, driven from the same output shaft.

These designs are perfect for locomotives where space and weight are critical factors, offering compact, high-performance solutions.

Off-Highway Truck Applications

Nidec Power traction alternators are the premier choice for mine-haul trucks, supplying the power needed for today’s advanced electric drive systems. Built to endure harsh conditions, these alternators feature:

  • Compact design to maximize vehicle payload and profitability.
  • Heavy-duty construction to withstand rough terrain, dirt, and debris.
  • Superior insulation to handle extreme thermal cycling from continuous acceleration and deceleration.

Whether powering locomotives or heavy-duty mining trucks, Nidec Power traction alternators deliver the reliability, efficiency, and durability required for the toughest jobs.
