Global Category Manager – Buy Outs

Role Summary

Location: Oradea, Bihor, Romania

We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join Nidec Drives as a Global Category Manager – Buy Outs

As part of the global Nidec Procurement team, you will be responsible for the Global Supplier base and deliverables for one of our Global Buy Out spend. This will include the overall responsibility for the selection of Suppliers and the delivery of our major targets for the Category, including Quality, Cost, Innovation, Delivery and Management (QCIDM).

As Global Category Manager – Buy Outs You will work in close alignment with the Regional Hub teams, Procurement Global Category Managers and Supply Chain teams to ensure that the supplier base delivers on our targets, at a Global, functional, and regional level, through the implementation of clear Commodity Strategies for each sub-category of spend.

As a key member within the Procurement team, you will develop strong relationships with the Regional Hubs and wider Procurement and Supply Chain teams to stimulate confidence in the management and control of our Buy Out requirements.

Key Job Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the Global Category Manager – Buy Outs consist of but are not limited to:

Strategy & Development

  • Develop and demonstrate short-, medium- & long-term strategies by Category & sub-Category area of responsibilities and to lead the implementation of these strategies and deliverables through a clear direction and approach.
  • Take the lead in the development of our relationships and processes with each of our partners, supporting each functional areas requirements and deliverables. 
  • Work cross functionally in aligning the Business requirements from our current and future Supplier Base.
  • Take the lead with the Regional/ Functional teams in developing a clear strategy for our Preferred Supplier Base, in line with our key deliverables of Quality, Cost, Delivery, Innovation and Management (QCIDM)
  • Report through a clearly developed scorecard for measuring Supplier/Business performance against the key targets and initiatives.

Tactical Execution

  • Support the daily control of Procurement requirements to ensure Supplier selection, price negotiation, and Supplier agreements are in place for ordering.
  • Work with the Supply Chain team to ensure daily performance of Suppliers are in line with targets/expectations and address with the team where required.
  • Continually review Cost of our Suppliers/Products and identify Cost Savings opportunities in line with the overall Cost Saving targets.
  • Manage the Targets and Goals for the Procurement and Supply Chain function.
  • Ensure Sourcing decisions in the Regions are aligned to the Buyout Global Category Strategy and agreed with all parties.
  • Communicate regularly with Senior Leadership on our Category plans and executional performance.
  • Fully integrate with the wider Nidec Procurement functions and ensure we have the relationships to optimise our Strategies and decisions.

Team Structure and People Management

  • Support the direction and approach of the overall business and ensure alignment with the wider Global vision and strategy.
  • Demonstrate clear performance for the category goals and targets, through the reporting specific agreed KPI’s and controls.
  • Continuously monitor and review the performance of our strategy implementation and plans against committed timescales.
  • Ensure we demonstrate strong communication across the Business at all levels, giving confidence in the direction and execution to all relevant areas of the Business.
  • Manage regular reviews with Procurement teams/other Functions/Regions to ensure alignment and delivery of our plans. 
  • Proactively demonstrate to Procurement & Supply Chain management, performance against strategy plans and request support where required to ensure delivery against goals and targets.

Supplier Relationship Management 

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.
  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and performance against our overall Strategy and operational deliverables. 
  • Create a true partnership (win/win) approach across the whole business and lead on proactive Supplier Relationship Management.
  • Monitor supplier performance against requirements and address any variables with the teams.

Travel Requirements:

Possible Travel may be expected, to various Nidec locations and suppliers. Travel requirements may also include international trips, including long haul, when required. 

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • CIPS, Business Bachelor’s Degree and/ or Project Management qualification
  • Proven Procurement & Supply Chain experience, within a Production environment.
  • Confident with electronics and mechanical raw parts base.
  • Project Management experience, in a complex, cost-effective environment.
  • Obtain a logical, structured, and proactive mindset
  • Action orientated, Structured and methodical
  • Ability to work effectively within cross functional teams
  • Driven to deliver results
