My first opportunity with Control Techniques was during a short work experience placement whilst at school. I was subsequently accepted on the Control Techniques graduate scheme and was successfully sponsored through my 3 year Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree.
When I was not in university I gained experience in manufacturing and test and during my gap year I supported a Product Manager with circuit development and test. This experience was invaluable and supported the successful completion of my degree.
My first post-graduate role was as a Development Engineer for R&D, in which I gained a further 3 years of engineering and product development experience. I was offered not only a promotion but a new and interesting opportunity as part of a team dedicated to reducing material costs.
It was a role which involved working with other disciplines and helped me gain a better understanding of the business. This role also helped me develop my commercial awareness. My next challenge came as Procurement Manager for the UK manufacturing facility.
This was a significant and positive change in my career which was now becoming more commercially focused. I subsequently moved into the role of Director of Procurement, taking responsibility for our global procurement. I continue to expand my responsibilities and was recently promoted to Vice President Procurement & Logistics.
This career development has given me an incredible opportunity to gain global exposure. I now have team members in Newtown- UK, China, Hungary, Romania and the Philippines. The company continues to support me through their Global Leadership Program in which I have the privilege of networking and being mentored by a very committed and cohesive top level management team.
