Show Sets Stage for the Latest Installation-Friendly Motor/Drive Technology

St. Louis, MO (January 26, 2015) — Nidec Motor Corporation (NMC) will unveil a brushless permanent magnet (BPM) electronically commutated (EC) pump motor with an integrated variable frequency drive and user interface at the AHR show in Chicago, IL.  The PerfectSpeed® NEMA®† 48 pump motor is an energy saving product which is easy to install and operate.  It has been designed specifically to drive booster and hydronic pumps.  Both the motor and drive are manufactured by NMC and are optimized to function together for highly efficient and worry-free operation.  The on-board drive regulates pump performance so that maximum efficiency is achieved during normal and peak flow operation.  The drive eliminates the need for mechanical components like hydraulic control valves, pump speed controls, and large control panels.

In addition to the PerfectSpeed NEMA 48 pump motor, the company will also spotlight its other innovations in EC motor technology.  The highly efficient SelecTech® 460 constant torque motor, designed for 460 Volt single-phase commercial air handlers and furnaces, is the latest addition to the application-specific EC motor family from NMC, and is the only EC motor on the market today with active power factor correction.  This feature reduces demand charges and increases load carrying capabilities, resulting in significant carbon emission reductions.

The EC motor lineup in the NMC booth will include the EcoApex® 48 EC condenser fan motor, previewed at last year’s show, and the EcoApex 56 EC inverter duty condenser fan motor, a variable speed motor designed for air-cooled condenser applications.  An additional EC solution, the PerfectSpeed 120 motor for small fans and blowers, will also be featured in the NMC display.
