We pride ourselves on our people and that, for many, starts with an apprenticeship.

Our current apprentices are just completing their first year and have this to say, which may help you decide that Nidec Drives can offer you the apprenticeship you are looking for:

Chloe Smout

“I am due to complete my first year in Business Administration, and I can confidently say I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I originally came from within the warehouse, so it’s been fascinating gaining an insight into the ‘ins and outs’ of Nidec Drives.

During our first year, we rotated our placement between marketing, procurement, and finance. The cycle between the three was a superb way to understand the different functions of each department under the ‘business admin’ title. It allowed me to build many relationships with colleagues around the company.

When I began my journey, the idea of pursuing procurement was outlandish (to say the least). I was very doubtful of my Microsoft Excel skillset, I’d never heard any of the terminology, and I’d also become quite comfortable with the previous department. But with the support and patience of my colleagues, I quickly began to improve and now I can’t imagine following a different career path!

Ultimately, taking this opportunity has been life-changing for me. At first, I was anxious to simply attend the apprenticeship open day. But I’m so glad that I did; here I am, building a future for myself with more confidence than ever!”

Billie-Jo Rogers

“My apprenticeship at Nidec has been an incredible experience, the hands-on training during all my rotations have helped to really improve my skills and knowledge.

The supportive teams who I have been working alongside gave me the opportunity to grow within the business and also as an individual.

I am excited to continue leaning more about the roles within this company and continuing my Nidec journey!”

Tim Whittington

“After almost 9 months as an apprentice here with Nidec Drives, I can look back and see huge development in my skills and knowledge. Doing rotations of the business allows me to learn how the company functions from day to day, in far more detail.

I’ve been treated really well in all departments I’ve attended. The Procurement, Finance and Marketing departments have welcomed me in, right from my very first day with each of them. Doing rotations of the business has allowed me to gain experience in 3 very different departments and gain experience from them all. It’s also been a great way to meet different staff members throughout the business and learn about their roles and responsibilities.

I would recommend an apprenticeship with Nidec Drives to anyone looking for a new path to take or is looking to try something new. It’s a great opportunity to ‘earn-while-you-learn’, and gain great experience, while working for a global company.”
