Electrical and Electronic

Shape the future of electrical engineering with our sponsored graduate programmes. Gain hands-on experience, expert mentorship, and the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies. Graduates can specialise in one of two fields:

Power electronics

Power electronics engineers design and develop the circuits that handle and control electrical power. Their work includes:

  • Power handling & control – Creating circuits that manage high-power flows and the electronics that control them.
  • Thermal management – Performing thermal modelling and implementing cooling strategies to keep systems efficient.
  • Component design & selection – Choosing and designing critical components like DC link capacitors and semiconductors.
  • Electromagnetic compliance – Ensuring circuits meet international standards by minimising electromagnetic noise through careful PCB layout and component selection.

This pathway is ideal for graduates passionate about energy efficiency, hardware design, and solving complex engineering challenges.

Control electronics

Control electronics engineers focus on the user-facing circuits that make systems intelligent and responsive. Their responsibilities include:

  • Digital & analogue circuit design – Developing IO interfaces and selecting processors for optimal performance.
  • Space optimization – Designing compact, efficient layouts where space is at a premium.
  • Thermal considerations – Managing heat through low-loss circuitry or heat sinking for reliable operation.

This pathway suits graduates interested in precision design, embedded systems, and advanced control technologies.
