Control Techniques extends Digitax range

JUL 23, 2021

Control Techniques, part of the Nidec group of companies, has announced their smallest servo drive has just been made smarter.

Digitax M754 forms part of the new Digitax HD series (0.7 Nm – 51 Nm with 153 Nm peak / 1.5 A – 16 A with 48 A peak), which delivers ultimate motor control performance and flexibility from a uniquely compact package.

One of the smallest servo drives on the market today, Digitax M754 is an intelligent drive for decentralised motion applications, taking space reduction to the next level by removing the need for an external PLC. Its powerful second MCi processor delivers a multitude of machine design opportunities.

Minimum size
For both single and multi-axis configurations, the Digitax HD series offers industry-leading compactness. At just 40 mm (1.6 in) wide, you can fit 25 drives, up to 16 A per drive, in just 1 meter (40 in) of cabinet space. The drive is also designed to fit within shallow 200 mm (8 in) cabinets, providing additional flexibility to maximise factory real estate.

Maximum performance
Every Digitax servo drive integrates a 1.5 axes Advanced Motion Controller (AMC), allowing motion functions to be synchronously carried out on the drive at 250 μs cycle time, minimising system latencies and maximising performance.

Real time smart control
The new addition to the range offers a variety of connectivity options. Digitax M754’s onboard MCi processor executes comprehensive programs that can control multiple drives and motors simultaneously across real-time networks. Onboard Ethernet using RTMoE (Real Time Motion over Ethernet) provides synchronisation and communication between drives using the Precision Time Protocol (PTP) as defined by IEEE1588 V2. Furthermore, simple integration with external components such as I/O, HMIs and PLCs can be achieved with Modbus TCP/IP on the integrated 2-port standard Ethernet switch.

Scalable motion
Users can implement motion control on the drive, liberating the system design from specific PLC vendors while reducing the computational load on the external PLC or even replacing it altogether.

Four times faster
Digitax M754's second processor extends the drive's system and machine control capabilities to run application programs up to four times faster than a standard PLC.

Programming and commissioning
Digitax HD boasts a wealth of features and accessories designed to make installation and commissioning as easy as possible. The Machine Control Studio programming environment provides a flexible and intuitive environment for programming automation and motion control features.
