ST. LOUIS, MO – Oct. 19, 2023 – Innovation is the theme for Nidec and its flagship brand, U.S. MOTORS®, at this year’s PSP/Deck Expo, November 13-15. The pump motor manufacturer has been developing groundbreaking products for more than 100 years and is now expanding its Neptune® line with two new offerings for residential pools – a hybrid that features two motor technologies and a 3.45 HP motor designed for large pools.
The new Neptune HybridTM will be released soon. This patented technology features a high-efficiency brushless permanent magnet (BPM) motor integrated with a control and a standard PSC induction motor. The BPM is capable of variable speed levels from 600 to 2,760 RPMs, ideal for circulating the water in residential pools. At 3,450 RPMs, the PSC motor activates, providing extra power needed for vacuuming the pool.
The Hybrid is a lower cost, lower power motor that offers significant energy savings for homeowners. As an example, when operating at 50 percent of speed, the motor uses only 12 to 14 percent of the full speed power. The Neptune Hybrid also meets proposed efficiency regulations from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) which are expected to take effect in 2025.
The new Neptune 3.45 HP features a variable speed motor with integrated controls for energy efficiency and easy operation. This powerful motor is designed for large residential pools, and as with the entire Neptune line, will integrate with any new or existing pump, bringing variable speed capabilities to the pump and meeting DOE efficiency requirements for the current pump rule as well as the upcoming 2025 motor rule.
Neptune motors can connect with customers’ existing time clocks and select automation for worry-free operation. A time clock connectivity demonstration will be available upon request at Nidec’s booth #8366.
U.S. MOTORS will also feature the Aqua-Shield Pro® at the trade show. This line of pool pump motors is designed with service professionals in mind. Easy to install, with a top mounted conduit box and simple voltage switch from 115 to 208-230V, this finned aluminum, totally enclosed fan-cooled motor is built with additional layers of protection against moisture, heat and debris which can cause damage to motors and windings.
