ST. LOUIS, MO – Jan. 19, 2024 – A pump motor that communicates with pool/spa control systems will soon be available to service professionals, reducing the need to invest in and carry inventory from multiple manufacturers. The Neptune® variable speed motor from Nidec/U.S. MOTORS® will feature software that connects it to major pool control systems on the market. Pool and spa service professionals can view demonstrations of how the new software easily integrates the Neptune motor to pool controls at the NESPA Pool & Spa Show, Booth #2949.
“This soon-to-be released software for Neptune makes it the ideal product to have on your truck because it works on virtually any pool,” said Jim Ellis, marketing director for Nidec’s pool & spa business. “Service pros who choose Neptune no longer have to worry about whether they have a motor that is compatible with the pool control system.”
In addition to the new software demonstration, visitors to the Nidec booth at NESPA can view a time clock connectivity demonstration, showing how Neptune motors can work with customers’ existing time clocks and select automation for worry-free operation.
Featured at the NESPA show this year is the new, patented Neptune Hybrid™ which features two motors: a high-efficiency brushless permanent magnet (BPM) motor integrated with a control and a standard PSC induction motor. The BPM is capable of variable speed levels from 600 to 2,760 RPMs, ideal for circulating the water in residential pools. At 3,450 RPMs, the PSC motor activates, providing extra power needed for vacuuming the pool.
The Hybrid is a lower cost, lower power motor that offers significant energy savings for homeowners. As an example, when operating at 50 percent of speed, the motor uses only 12 to 14 percent of the full speed power. The Neptune Hybrid also meets proposed efficiency regulations from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) which are expected to take effect in 2025.
Nidec staff can also share with booth visitors the benefits of the new Neptune 3.45 HP, designed for large residential pools and featuring a powerful variable speed motor with integrated controls for energy efficiency and easy operation. As with the entire Neptune line, this new motor will integrate with many new or existing pumps, bringing variable speed capabilities to the pump and meeting DOE efficiency requirements for the current pump rule as well as the upcoming 2025 motor rule.
Other Nidec/U.S. MOTORS products that will be highlighted at NESPA include the Neptune 1.65 THP (total horsepower) square flange variable speed motor and the Aqua-Shield Pro® line of pool pump motors. Designed with service professionals in mind, Aqua-Shield motors are easy to install, with a top mounted conduit box and simple voltage switch from 115 to 230V.
Also on display is the Aqua-Shield EZ48™, a 48-frame design that is easy to install and provides long life expectancy due to superior moisture resistance inside the motor where water and debris can damage windings and cause premature motor failure. Aqua-Shield features additional bearing protection as well.
